Sexism and Question Papers…

I was recently trying my hand at answering some logic papers, actually some entrance exam papers … Here are the sample questions…

51. Statements:
All politicians are intelligent.
Some women are politicians.

Conclusions:
I Some women are intelligent.
II All those intelligent are women.

Next…

53. Statements:
Lawyers marry only fair girls.
Shoba is very fair.

Conclusion:
I Shoba was married to a lawyer
II Shoba was not married to a lawyer.

Another

Statement:
All students are boys.
No boy is dull.

Conclusion:
I No student is dull.
II There are no girls in the class.

I (in general) think all this logic sucks prime time. Because people’s thinking style is very different, and at times we can’t think the particular way the examiner wants us to think or apply logic… We can apply different reasoning and arrive at a different conclusion that can also be right, but we may land up losing marks.

The above questions are enough crazy to drive any self-respecting women to think about the prejudice of the examiner. Such questions make you feel as if you are dumb. It makes you feel worthless. It lessens your confidence and indirectly affect your exam scores if you are a woman.

I really hope such sexism disappears from question papers.

PS to men: Please don’t give comments in support of such questions. It indirectly implies that you could get to where you are in life because you too had such dirty, sexist thinking that degraded women.

Educated guys and their concept of wife….

Well, it was late in the night around 1 O clock and I was a bit too free so I went to G-chat; there was my friend (supposed to have been best friends).
Here I give a bit of the transcript of the chat!

What can I say about this guy whom I thought was EDUCATED human being (studying in one of the very top institutes namely IIT); but turns out to be a nightmare. Killing off his wife and saying there was a gas cylinder explosion for the simple fact that she doesn’t know how to cook. As if it were a genetic protocol that every woman must cook.
If u don’t like her divorce her, but killing away a human being is the most inhuman thing I can imagine.
I have been looking around at the concept that educated men have about ‘wife’. I remember one guy Ph.D in mathematics, who worked in several foreign countries, saying that his wife must not be more than 10th pass, another M.Sc Chemistry fellow saying that his wife must get every rupee only from him, rather beg to him for money. Another BL fellow saying that his wife must not have ever gone to college because she will be used/polluted. Another friend of mine exited chat when we started talking about second hand wife. (I am sorry that I have to maintain the anonymity of these guys though I would love to publish their names). Their main cause is that educated women will argue more, be more independent etc, so they can’t manage.
Imagine Kusbhoo saying that these days educated men don’t expect their wife to be virgin. I wonder from which foreign land she is talking. If she had talked to some ‘educated men’ she might have learnt that they have the most screwed concept of what and how a wife should be!
Educated men seem to be Male Chauvinist Pigs compared to uneducated men, at least uneducated ones will have some respect that you are educated. Men don’t want women with individual minds, or independent thinking, let alone chastity.
You can point out that not all educated guys are this bad. I too accept but they are the minority. Educated men seem to make criminals, be it Tandoor Sharma, or man doing dowry harassment on the next street. Education is given so that it can broaden their horizon, but looks like it has only narrowed men’s minds. They are not able to understand that marriage is between two equals and not between a slave and a master!
